4) Double check your typing when you enter a URL in the address field.

Typo-squatting is another common form of phishing. This is where a phisher applies for a domain name similar to the victim site’s address.

The typo-squatter's name will usually be one of four kinds, all similar to the victim site address:

For the 3264 most popular .com websites, it is estimated that on average each is targeted by around 280 typo domains. While most typo-squatters are just annoying advertising sites, many are malicious and designed to steel your identity.
Once in the typo-squatter's site, the user may also be tricked into thinking that they are in fact in the real site; through the use of copied or similar logos, website layouts or content.

A famous example of Typo-squatting is Goggle.com, an extremely dangerous website which infects the user with spyware.
